2895-A Pringle Street Kimberly Brown and Charlton Douglas have a combined experience of over 30 years in the food service industry. Before joining to found Food Fetish, Ms. Brown had worked as a pastry chef for almost 20 years, while Ms. Douglas had worked as a food sales representative for 12 years, specializing in pastry products for the last 8 years. In July of 2001 Ms. Brown and Ms. Douglas opened Food Fetish, a specialty food distributor primarily dealing with pastry products. Most of the goods provided by Food Fetish are in ingredient form, although a select few semi-finished products are offered. Food Fetish provides UPS ground service to the Carolinas, coastal Georgia and the Jacksonville area, as well as local delivery to Charleston area businesses. Ms. Brown and Ms. Douglas founded their business partly as a result of a perceived lack of this service in the area. Before the existence of Food Fetish, the nearest providers of wholesale pastry products were located in the Atlanta and Washington, DC areas. The LDC was able to assist Ms. Brown and Ms. Douglas with an SBILP loan in 2001, which was used for general startup expenditures. In addition, the commitment by the LDC was the conclusive factor in the decision of a private lender to come on board to loan the remainder of the needed funds
