Milton Clemens has owned and operated Budget Janitorial Service since 1986. The business, which prides itself on its low turnover rate of both clients and employees, services mostly commercial establishments in the North Charleston area. Though Mr. Clemens has had to reduce his staff as a result of an influx of larger, national competitors over the last few years, he still employs a staff of about 25 individuals. Before opening his own business, Mr. Clemens worked part-time in the janitorial service industry; he founded his own janitorial company after being asked repeatedly why he didn’t go into business for himself. Now, over fifteen years later, he is still glad that he followed this advice, having established a reputation for superior service throughout the greater North Charleston area. Mr. Clemens began his relationship with the LDC in 2001, when he received an SBILP loan.
